BRINK LAWYERS PA is proud to announce that Brooke Bergeron of Crookston, Minnesota, is the winner of the Spring 2022 BRINK LAWYERS UND Law Scholarship. Ms. Bergeron is a second-year law student at the UND School of Law and currently serves as President of the Rural Practice Association, Treasurer of the Law Women’s Caucus, and is a member of the Criminal Law Association and Phi Delta Phi (International Legal Honor Society). This past summer she worked as a legal extern at the Walsh County State’s Attorney’s Office in Grafton, North Dakota. During that externship, Ms. Bergeron obtained her student practice papers and got experience prosecuting her own cases in the courtroom. Ms. Bergeron obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice and Political Science in December of 2019 from Minnesota State University Moorhead, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 grade point average. During high school and college, Ms. Bergeron worked as a legal assistant at the law firm of Fischer, Rust, Stock & Rust, PLLC in Crookston. Ms. Bergeron is the daughter of Randy and Jody Bergeron of Crookston, Minnesota, and a 2016 graduate of Crookston High School.
The Brink Lawyers UND Law Scholarship gives preference to UND students who have a connection to the northern Red River Valley. One goal of the scholarship is to encourage prospective attorneys to move back to the northern Red River Valley after law school. There is a current crisis of lack of representation, especially for the poor and underserved, in the Northern valley in both Minnesota and North Dakota. In these rural communities, as current attorneys retire or otherwise leave the practice, fewer and fewer young attorneys come to replace them.

Ms. Bergeron plans to graduate from UND School of Law in spring of 2023 and then sit the summer 2023 bar exam.
